The 2005 CIAP was authorized by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, http://www.mms.gov/2005EnergyPolicyAct.htm.
Two hundred and fifty million dollars, ($250M) will be divided annually from fiscal years
2007 through 2010 among the coastal states of Alabama, Alaska, California, Louisiana,
Mississippi and Texas. The funding will be divided along a cost share formula between the
states and their coastal political subdivisions (CPS).
For Texas, the expected amount of revenue is approximately $60M. This amount will be divided 65% to the state and 35% to be shared by the 18 CPS. It is anticipated the state of Texas will receive approximately $39M and each coastal political subdivision receiving a portion of the remaining $21M.
For the year 2007 Orange County received $737,196.04. Orange County will be eligible for $737,196.04 of the 2008 money. These awards are scheduled to be used for sewer upgrades in the County. Additional monies are scheduled to be awarded for the years 2009 and 2010.
