The department of Purchasing is charged with the responsibility of procuring commodities and services and contract administration by ensuring compliance with the state law in the area of purchasing, as well as, ensuring that the county receives quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost.  The county has established policies designated to stimulate competition, while preventing favoritism, yet securing the best good and services at the lowest price.  This department also conducts auction sales for disposal of surplus and confiscated items.

Acquisition of competitive prices, bids and/or proposals should be applied to the following:

  • All supplies, materials and equipment

  • All service contracts, including repair and maintenance contracts

  • All professional service contracts

  • All construction or repair work

The purchasing staff consists of the Purchasing Agent, Assistant Purchasing Agent, Buyer II/Receiving Technician and Buyer II.  This team is responsible for solicitation of formal bids, requests for proposals, and quotations and conducts the following:

  • Auctions of Surplus Property

  • Central Supply Operations

  • Physical Inventory of Fixed Assets

  • Maintaining Surplus Property Warehouse

  •

  Regular business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Vendors are welcome during business hours but are encouraged to call for appointment.
