Online Records Help - Trouble Viewing Documents
When you click the View icon, does nothing happen? Follow these steps.
1. Make sure you're using Internet Explorer (you can use other browsers, but sometimes they have issues).
2. Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.
The following instructions are for Internet Explorer only:
Now, when you click "View" to view a document, it will not display the document within Internet Explorer, but will open it in Acrobat Reader.
You may get a thin message bar popup toward the top of Internet Explorer that says something like "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options..." The file it blocked was just an Adobe PDF file. You want to allow it to download, so click the message bar and allow the download. You may need to click "retry".
Give it a moment to access the optical server. The documents are stored on an optical jukebox and take a moment to be accessed. The larger the document, the longer it will take to download.
If you don't like having to click on the message bar every time you view an image, there is a way this can be turned off. If you turn this off, Internet Explorer will no longer block any downloads that you click on, so this is entirely up to you. If you do not feel comfortable allowing all downloads, then you may not want to do this.
1. In Internet Explorer, click "Tools", then click "Internet Options".
3. In the next window, scroll down until you see the "Downloads" section. Under "Automatic prompting for file downloads", click "Enable" then click "OK".
4. You may get a prompt that asks "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?". Click "Yes".
5. Now click "Apply", then "OK" and restart Internet Explorer.

If you've done both of those steps, but sometimes you can see documents and sometimes you can't, it could be a problem with how Acrobat Reader displays PDF documents within Internet Explorer. Do the following:
1. Open Acrobat Reader
2. At the top of the window, click "Edit", then click "Preferences".
3. On the lefthand side of the Preferences window, click "Internet", then uncheck the box next to "Display PDF in browser".
4. Click OK, then close Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader may give you a message that says it's configuring files and then asks you if you want to restart your computer. If it does this, restart your computer.
